Instead of self referral bypassing GPs, focus should be on:

- strengthening primary care. We’re already doing 20% more than 2019.

- integration for rest of #NHS . #TeamGP are way ahead on IT, focus on tech in hospitals.

- Fully allowing direct access scans for GPs.

I am for innovation, integration & efficient pathways for patients. Lot of my tweets are about this.

#TeamGP doesn’t have capacity to take on work not done elsewhere in #NHS . We have fewer GPs & more patients. Struggling.

So, GPs aren’t currently best placed to deal with….

Really busy in #TeamGP , lots of #StrepA queries. Most viral. I’m sure A&Es & Paeds doctors are also busy.

We need clear messages from Govt & NHSE. Parents need to know basics of Strep A, signs of deterioration/sepsis and what to do. This will help #NHS deal with the pressures.

I keep seeing duty GPs on here consulting with silly numbers per session (40+). This isn’t safe; why is it happening and why do we keep doing this? We need to draw stricter boundaries and not prop up a system that requires this. #teamgp

RT @padsbigsis: We took the plunge and scrapped total triage 2 weeks ago. The relief is immense for GPs, receptionists and, from what I’ve heard so far, patients. Can choose F2F or phone. Access via E-consult, phone or walk in. Also gone to 15 min appointments.
