Just learned how dumb it was when in the 1990s we started using "carbon emissions" as the main metric to measure the #ClimateCrisis, and "emissions reduction" as metric of success. (As opposed to amount of fossil fuels burned, forests destroyed, etc.)

That enabled the creation of the emissions market which is something Silicon Valley's #TechnoSolutionism advocates including #BigTech can now invest their wealth in.

#Theranos is a satisfying #siliconvalley #fraud story because the bio-physics makes the false promise super clear. It is much fuzzier to conclusively and succinctly show why #technosolutionism based on information is wrong, whether computer tutors or Shotspotter.
