API changes have made it so I can't post on mobile without either paying a subscription for a 3rd party Dev or downloading their spyware - which I will not do, so guess I just won't

If you must browse reddit I'd recommend or

: To protect its corporate needs, Reddit ignores community protests, harms accessibility for disabled users, and threatens the volunteers who moderate the site.

FYI, if you are on there are clients, , that allow you to change a Privacy setting that will automatically redirect these links to etc,

However, it would be amazing as a this was made available in a user's preferences on Currently it is only avail be in the admin panel.

Yesterday I deleted my account after years of healthy lurking. The lack of filter for misinformation, the insane toxicity, the brigading, and the bots, pushed me to stop participating, and now, on a corporatist twist (shock), they killed third party apps, demanding millions to the developers – so I’m off to greener pastures aka !
That Reddit results may still pop up on my StartPage searches? Yep. But now I’ll check them out with no account and using .

@RL_Dane yeah I "fixed" the problem using feeds instead of Reddit's (which come with the www URL instead of old).

I already use it with redirector in Firefox but didn't want to overload the server with RSS requests when viewing from the terminal. But now I think there's no other way. Oh well!

So if anyone is wondering: to receive an feed of a subreddit through Teddit, just add `?api&type=rss` to the end of the Teddit link, for example:

::: LINUX IN THE WILD - "Weird Linux benefits" :ablobcatrave:

The OP stated:

"What I notice with Linux. I get somehow better audio like its more clear and better sound. I don't know how but I'm 100% sure I get better sound.

Some native Windows games I swear work even better on Linux and it's more stable for me.

There is also one weird thing that I can't explain but my eyes hurt less about 70%.

For some reason on Windows my eyes are burning even if I use the same apps and everything but still the issue is there."

So, what do YOU think? Had similar experiences after moving on from Windows to Linux? :thinkhappy:

Also for Youtube, for Reddit, and there are many more.

One very awesome thing is
farside.link/

It redirects between multiple instances, and it supports various types of them.

So for example, opening this link will you through a different Invidious instance each time:
farside.link/invidious/watch?v

This is very good way of combating

Also is awesome browser addon.

Here's a more complex use, passing the whole URL for farside.link to redirect to an appropriate service.

eg. Twitter → Nitter, YouTube → Piped or Invidious, and Reddit → a Libreddit or Teddit instance¹.

*

Since it sends the whole URL, it only needs one rule (linked) – so you can adapt the RegEx to add any other supported services (see the docs¹ below).

¹ As per the examples at the farside readme:

@ethanz

And you should return the favor by never posting unsanitized Twitter links to the either 🙂

I recommend you do a search for "IndyWeb POSSE" program. Which explains the philosophy behind only posting Fediverse links into the deprecated legacy silos, and never posting unsanitized links from places there like twitter into the Fediverse.

Basically, you do a disservice posting links in the Fediverse that lead people to the very monolithic, privacy disrespecting silos that they've already left behind.

Instead, if you even bother to use those deprecated legacy silo systems, post links bringing the people there at places like twitter to content that exists here in the Fediverse, thereby providing incentives to create accounts on Fediverse platforms like , , , , , , , , , Etc., Thereby joining the Fediverse 👍

If you find that you really must post a link leading to one of the deprecated silos, then please consider such links. i.e., in the case of Twitter, you can use the very popular by just replacing the "twitter .com" with "nitter .net" in the URL.

If you're on , does this "automagically" for you if you have safe posting enabled.

If you're on desktop, there's a whole list of similar sanitation tools you can use for , for example, by changing the domain in the URL to .net and similar tools for , , and many others too. For , you can use .

A long list of these privacy protecting utilities is provided at:

pussthecat.org/

And you can install Fedilab from F-Droid too:

Fedilab.App

You can also install the app at F-Droid for generating safe links when not posting to the Fediverse - desks details are at three Fedilab website above.

I hope that helps!

Bom dia, Fediverso! Como estão? Dormiram bem?

needs to get more attention
It's an , redirect service for alternative frontends like , , , etc.
It's like LibRedirect, but for everyone who clicks on the link.

github.com/benbusby/farside

One of the drawbacks that is still holding me back from using it all the time is that it does not create embedded URL preview. While if you link directly to nitter or teddit instance, embed works fine.

Example of no embed:
farside.link/invidious/watch?v

Quite frankly, I'd rather just keep using alternatives frontends like . Wonder how this will play into their ad revenue (though very few 1337 users probably even know what it is)
