We hear very little about #TeddyWilson who easily crossed that big band to small group divide that survived into the bebop era. Influential pianist (#LennieTristano and #BudPowell clearly listened). Often the pillar behind #Pres #LesterYoung & #BillieHoliday. Superb in his own right. (I used to play 🎷 with a very gifted pianist in Portsmouth, Lots John Russell. Sounded a lot like Teddy. We’d duet. But unreliable due to alcohol. Died too young of related complications.

#TeddyWilson (1943–1991) would have been 79 today.

He was a familiar face for 25 years on shows like #GoodTimes (as gangster Sweet Daddy Williams) and #ThatsMyMama (as Earl the postman).

He also played Issac in the first pilot movie for #TheLoveBoat in 1976!
