Speaking of #TehiTegi - it's worth mentioning that the three main characters are an older woman of unspecified orientation who's dedicated her life to her work and has no room for a relationship, a young woman who's probably bi but is unlikely to have time for relationships,, and an older queer man, an Austrian living in Paris, who's a bit flamboyant perhaps. The aging queen tends to be comedy relief, and I'm putting the trope in the spotlight and giving him serious lines.
OK, #TehiTegi is at 6,951 words compiled second draft, and I've got one more scene left in the first chapter that I haven't started yet. I've also gotten to know the third character in the MC triad better, which is good as I've been having a bit of trouble working on bringing him in. #amwriting
The third, a short older woman with the sort of crumpled brown face old Welshwomen get, like an aging apple, had a crimson bishop's chimere and white pallium thrown on over a frumpy flowered dress and a lab apron.

Qafirah followed him in shaking her head to dispel any shreds of taking him seriously that might have been clinging.

Meant to be working on #Breadspotting but #TehiTegi got 340 words advancing the current scene. Dorothy is off to see the Merlin, but I can't make that joke in the manuscript cos it's the late 1800s and moving pictures were just invented and haven't been commercialized yet.
Cardinal Celestin is quietly terrifying. As Cardinal Cathar, he knows the most dangerous arcane secrets of the Empire, and as Cardinal Lamplighter the most dangerous political secrets as well. There is a knowledge at the back of his eyes that says he has already made arrangements for your disposal should it become necessary, and he doesn't have to be around himself for it to happen. He has gazed into the Abyss, and has tea with the Void on Wednesdays. #TehiTegi #amwriting
The large brass plaque announced "Research Division, Senior Laboratories". Underneath it, some wag had crafted a reasonable approximation of an official safety hazard sign: *Failure to observe protective measures may result in dismemberment, transformation, or loss of soul.*
"They're not entirely joking, are they," Dorothy asked as they passed the sign.
Doing some work on #TehiTegi, both yesterday and today. Pardon me, #Breadspotting folks, I'm going to work on the other piece while the flow is happening. Nathaniel will have to deal with the Spiders far too soon. #amwriting

At some point, I really need to have someone make a bit of magic work by pivoting it on a pun or bit of wordplay. It would be in keeping with the genre and the milieu. #TehiTegi
Right before the trees were in the way, as the train went around the first bend and the station went out of sight, Edgar glanced round, and then was gone. He hadn't taken a step. He hadn't fallen. He just wasn't there any more, and then Connaught was staring at the forest going by, wondering what in the Name of God he had just seen, and praying for the locomotive to put on more steam.

Did we just get invited to church by the old Irish god of the sea?
Added a new supporting character, split a far too big scene into two, added a new scene, and rewrote the plot description for two earlier ones to support the later revelation and position the new character and one other for their roles. Not focusing on word count yet, still noodling around with the opening chapter, putting most of my effort into research and plot development. #amwriting #TehiTegi
Added a couple of new scenes to the #TehiTegi novel outline. The main character gets one scene where she learns aetheric vision and gets a lesson in interpreting people's auras, and gets rather a lot of study material dropped on her, and another where she commits the second of a series of killings in the line of duty, and begins to wonder if she's broken, or if she's going to feel something about it later, or what. I mean, shouldn't you feel something more than indignation? #amwriting
I now know who the five Cardinals of the Chantry are, the top officers in the British Arcane Service, who report directly to Ebony Stick as the service's commander in chief. I already had the Bishops, the Division heads, written up, with two of them, Geirlaug Firth, Bishop Cathar, and Tom Finn, Bishop Lamplighter, being supporting characters through a couple of subplots. #TehiTegi #amwriting
