“NCEP has placed Earth's average #temperature yesterday as the hottest single day thus far measured by humans.

This is driven by the combination of El Niño on top of #globalwarming, and we may well see a few even warmer days over the next 6 weeks.”

This chart shows the #temperature extremes during December 2022. The very cold spell to begin the month ended with a mean temperature 4.4°C below average, which would have made it the second coldest month in my series back to 2009.
The very mild second half brought the mean (yellow line) back up to just 0.5°C below average, leaving the month overall languishing at 34th place!

A #temperature of -3°F (-19°C) Friday morning. 60°F (15°C) today. And 2 separate light #snows during that period too. The #weather has been wild this week. #tnwx #winter

Just 4 days ago the mean December #temperature was only 0.9°C, one of the coldest starts to December on record. Since then the mean temperature has rocketed from just 0.9°C to 2.5°C (4.3°C to 2.7°C below the local east #Dorset average).

Today marks the end of one of the most significant #Dorset #cold spells for years. The mean #temperature is currently just 0.9°C, 4.3°C below the local 1981-2010 #December average. It will undoubtedly change given a warmer second half of the month but this is currently the second #coldest month since I began recording in 2009, just 0.6°C warmer than December 2010.

Incredible warm-up in #Dorset this morning! The #temperature has risen from -5.6°C at 00:40 to +3.7°C at 06:20.

It’s -3.0°C already (at 7pm) in #Dorset! However a BIG change is on the way as the #temperature climbs into the mid teens by Monday, and some #weather models are predicting 50mm rainfall between Sunday and Tuesday. At least it will clean up the roads!
