I’d heard a bit about the Tennessee legislature attempting to expel three lawmakers and removing 2. I really appreciated the additional context in this episode of the Daily from NYT.

Particularly on how even if both expelled lawmakers return to their positions—now with national attention and a mountain of cash from fundraising—many Republican lawmakers don’t see it as significant locally. Their concerns are about primary challengers where this helped.

I am ashamed to live in #Tennessee today. I have no words to express how angry I am at the players who opened the doors for this type of legislative behavior. It is one thing (still wrong) to be racist and intolerant of opposing viewpoints. It is another (fucking abhorrent) to institutionalize that behavior.
