@breadandcircuses Technical question though: why is aerosol termination shock usually supposed to lead to a "temporary overshoot"?

Doesn't the fact that the fossil fuel particulates are blocking some of the warming mean that when we clear it up, we're *already committed to over 1.5C*? Why would that be temporary? #terminationshock

Finally finished Neil Stephenson's #TerminationShock this afternoon. Interesting characters and a fascinating premise. But it felt like the story suffered in deference to the 'big ideas' of the book.

I appreciate the enormous effort that goes into researching NS books, but goodness they're long. A little tighter narrative would be great.
