There will also be a more open session in the afternoon of the event (15:00-17:00), where a larger group can hear about the participating artists' work, do some art workshopping & help shape wider project plans.
If you'd like to attend that part (no artistic skills or training required!), then register here by 18 June: https://forms.office.com/e/PAw9ZbTaPN
(this is all building on the "Design a Palaeoart Exhibition" strand at the #TetZooCon palaeoart workshop last year, if anyone attended that!)
For this week’s #ManospondylusMonday I present you with my brand new post on my day at the Crystal Palace Geological Court: https://www.manospondylus.com/2023/01/antique-paleoart-most-illegal-photos-of.html?m=1

It's this time of the year again!
Finally got around to writing down my account of Day 2 of this year’s #TetZooCon. You can read it here: https://www.manospondylus.com/2022/12/tetzoocon-2022-day-2.html?m=1
Be sure to check out episode 10 of the CMTK Talk Hour, my podcast with @cmkosemen, in which we talk about day 2 of #tetzoocon 2022. In case you‘re wondering, the animal in the thumbnail is not a misshapen Dimetrodon but something entirely different: https://youtu.be/9YQ3EvIcu8A

Did a digital redraw of my Tanystropheus scene from #TetZooCon! The prompt was "what did they do with those ridiculous necks?" and my first thought was banana slugs - here, two Tanystropheus lock necks and tails while mating, with other individuals displaying in the background.
Had a fabulous time at this year's #TetZooCon (biggest one yet!) catching up with all the usual reprobates. @markwitton @john @TetZoo Some great talks on #dinosaurs #pterosaurs #reptiles #birds and other awesome #tetropods. Here's to next year!

#TetZooCon the top three winners of the quiz, with 21, 22, and 23 / 30 - congratulations Albert Chen on first place!
#TetZooCon the appearance of Crystal Palace-looking Iguanodon and Megalosaurus lived on in palaeoart long after the scientific view of the animals had updated.
#TetZooCon One of the missing sculptures that has disappeared without a trace sometime in the last 70 years: Palaeotherium magnum.
Some Crystal Palace species are notable by their absence: initially 24 species, today only 21. #TetZooCon
#TetZooCon Hawkins ahead of his time in terms of realistic palaeoart, even today when we know the details are a little wrong, we can appreciate that there was an effort to get them right with what was known at the time.
#TetZooCon Mark Witton & Ellinor Mitchell give an excellent talk on the Crystal Palace dinosaurs. The statues are impressive but the planned and partly implemented artificial geology at the site are equally so: we walk past it mostly without realising.
#TetZooCon C. M. Kosemen mentions upcoming project Snaiad: a description of an alien world, 400 family level clades described so far (see his Patreon for more info).
#TetZooCon convergent features in a similar environment are plausible: where there’s light, there’s likely eyes.all living things want to survive long enough to reproduce (however that may work).
#TetZooCon “the humanoid alien is the perfect example of evolution: it is adapted to fit the environment of a television studio according to the available production budget.” - Douglas Dixon.
