Friday's film was #TheAbyss, an often overlooked, 80s action flick that has elements of Aliens, and of Predator, but is nothing like those two films.

I remember renting this on VHS, getting really into it, then discovering that the VHS tape was busted about half an hour from the end! Kids these days, etc...

Anyway, this film holds up well. The effects are great, the story is compelling and parts of it truly nail-biting.

Is liquid breathing really a thing? Guess there's no way to find out..

Rewatching The Abyss (1989). One thing that occurs to me, as it did when I first watched it, is how does the submersible rig avoid getting flooded by the sub bay or the hatch they open to swim there? They don't show the operation of any airlock ... well ... waterlock I guess ... that would prevent water rushing in.
