I freely admit to being a member of #TheInflux & don't quite grok the entirety here but I've noticed something close to universal and maybe everyone else is just used to it, so accepts it

Long #ImageCaptions are the norm here. It's considered polite and good practice

So why can I only find one #Mastodon #Client that takes that into account? Every other one I have tried gives a pathetic one or two line edit area

@fearian change has to occur. The size of #TheInflux is overwhelming what used to be a small relatively private (geek factor) community.

Instances could be topic focused. I don't think that's really possible now.

That smaller community used Twitter in slightly different ways, for slightly different purposes than here. But Mastodon looks really, really close.

If only... This is reflected in the many UX complaints, etc.

I'm a member of #TheInflux (just over 2wks) but I think I have a fairly good idea now of what is client and what is mastodon. I think I know enough to not ask you to be changing the fediverse 😀

Other than with things that at least I think are implementable in the client but benefit everyone by giving Sengi users an improved ability to be good members

If I can resolve a couple of things that are likely PBKAC I think I have my Win10 app.

You have to poke quite a bit to discover everything and to the #TheInflux it may be hard to *grok* what you're seeing and the purpose

But it may be worth the time invested if you are going through 'app cycling' like I am right now

I think I can build a good workflow using this. 👍

I just wanted to help support and once I was done that, it was mission accomplished.

Then after a while, it occurred to me that it might help the admins as well, so it's something I should do.

The more you read them, the better ones you will write. And not meaning mine specifically, read them all. I'm a member of the #TheInflux and new here.

But I had a DM bot that nagged me for transgression over there so it's habit and have been doing it consistently for a while.

And all the extra characters it gives me!! 😄

@cmoz I am definitely having more 'conversations' here.

Feeling comfortable exposing a bit more of actually who I am, rather than 'trying to get attention'.

Thinking more about what I post before I post. I'm proofreading more carefully. Thinking about how people can avoid my stuff if they want to. Or maybe just one of my interests (ie. BBQ).

It's just a flat out better place. Wish I had come sooner. But there's a good chance there may not have been 'enough' before #TheInflux

@cmoz it's different. Lot of people are trying to treat/use it like that place. Or just plain confused.

I've learned that, when unsure, just ask. If it's a common thing you'll likely get a pretty quick answer from those you follow already. If you have a real poser of a question, it will get boosted and spread further.

You don't get 🔥 and vitriol in responses here.

After a week and a half I like it much, much more.

Hmm. I'm sure it has been discussed in the past and violates the 'boosts are untouchable' credo.

But... It would be really, really nice to add a CW to a boost with all #TheInflux stuff spreading.

But there is also a fine line between making things more pleasant and possible implied censorship. It is an added comment after all.

Can't imagine what your personal timeline looks like with the number of followers you have and the popularity of what you post.

I think Mastodon is going to have to adapt to this somehow. It's not scaling very well. It may have made sense in the past but now both the size of #TheInflux and the number of them that have massive active followings is likely making things hard for everyone, not just those unused to it. I think everyone is going to have to be patient.

Well, I'm committed now!
