I finally got a chance to sit down without the kids and watch The Northman today.

The scenery is astounding. It's just a beautiful movie to watch. However, be prepared for some gruesome scenes. The whole movie just has an intensity that doesn't let up.

Zu flach, dennoch kurzweilig. Teils etwas abgedroschen und sehr sehr menschlich. Leider nicht das bildgewaltige Racheepos, das ich erwartet hatte.

Alright. Yesterday I watched a documentary about Doggerland, today I watched #TheNorthman and felt inspired. So I opened up #Scrivener, made a few bullet points, and then watched a few videos about Anglo-Saxon pagan history and now I have a few scenes that are screaming for a story thread. I still don't know what this is going to become but I have a new hyperfixation (pre-Roman British history) and a potential story I never knew I'd write?! What an unexpected joy of a day! #history #writing

@RichTate I was really excited to see this one since I was such a huge fan of #TheWitch, but I didn’t enjoy this one when I’ve watched it. I’ve thought of watching it again and I still may one day, because I feel like I’m missing something here and this movie should be an absolute masterpiece. I want to feel that way about it, but currently that’s not the case. I’m glad you enjoyed it, if you did! I’m really looking forward to Robert Eggers #Nosteratu and I haven’t watched #TheNorthman yet.

A film that we've had recorded for a few months - #TheNorthman - got treated to a watch tonight. Well. A bit of a mixed bag. The first half hour was mostly thinking it was dreadful, disjointed, felt like cut scenes from a video game. The next twenty minutes were spent getting it, a bit, but thinking it was an attempt to film an opera. And then it sort of clicked. And, yeah, pretty epic. Mad as a box of frogs, but an epic box of frogs. And lots of lovely #Iceland.

Watching Robert Eggers’ The Northman for the first time and I like it, but it’s not hitting quite like his others for me. I think visually it’s amazing and on a par with The Witch and The Lighthouse. The cinematographer on all three, Jarin Blaschke, seems to be really brilliant and was, I think, nominated for an Academy Award. #TheNorthman #movies #RobertEggers
