One thing that I really find fascinating is seeing how mechanics get tied into lore in #ttrpgs #FreeLeague does a stellar job with this in two of their games, both using different systems.

#AlienRPG has a stress dice mechanic that does a brilliant job in regards to adding to your success chances while also making it so that you are more likely to panic if you fail.

#TheOneRing2e uses hope and misery to change success rate. Each changing based on travel, battle, and social events.

Francesco Nepitello in an interview with Wargamer on why there is a #dnd5e version of #TheOneRing2e, kind of boils down to this statement:

»…we realised that D&D players and other RPG players do not really occupy the same space.«

What he’s essentially saying here, is that #DnD players and RPG players are not the same. Interesting observation.

Zwischenstand zu meinen #PnPDe-Diskussionen des Wochenendes: ich habe mich erinnert, dass meine Partnerin ein Remarkable hat (hat praktisch identische Displaydaten zum Onyx Boox Note Air 2, vermutlich ist's das selbe Display), das teste ich jetzt mal auf der Terasse sitzend mit dem PDF des #TheOneRing2e Startersets (das mir in den nächsten Tagen @terraminima auch auf Papier schickt).

Und aus bisher noch nicht ganz ungeklärten Gründen glaubt mein PC gerade, #LoTRO aktualisieren zu müssen... 🫣

Last night, in #TheOneRing2e Starter set...

Five brave hobbits take on a quest from Bilbo Baggins himself to retrieve an old map from the Mathom House in Michel Delving.

Bilbo's route leaves much to be desired, as all five are washed away in what should be a gentle ford. They eventually cross, but their picnic is lost.

There's no app (I've found) that lets me make easily phone-readable stat blocks for #TheOneRing2e, so I've gone the long way round and made a CSS template I can use instead. If only I knew how to make a user-friendly version. 🙃

I've been reading a lot of The One Ring recently, and maybe it's just cross-contamination from recent TV habits, but I reckon you could use it as the basis for a pretty great game of The Last of Us...
