I’ve seen recs since it first came out, but I figured I wasn’t the audience for it. I’ve been following these developments since algorithm first became a thing and trying to explain how to avoid it to anyone I could.

Nothing was really new to me, and I have criticisms. But I appreciate it as a 101 primer to rec others.

It’s most interesting to me now (re: twitter’s implosion) to justify my choice this weekend: to lock my twitter account and delete the app.

Tried #TheSocialDilemma but couldn’t get past the opening, baffled hand-wringing from white tech bros. Does it get any better? Am I being too harsh?

You certainly can stop companies from making you the product. Refuse to use their platforms, to the extent that is possible. I use the web browser Qwant. It doesn't track. I left FB & Twitter. I only continue to use Whatsapp & Instagram to follow my kids & grandkids. But I clean my device's caches daily with CCleaner. And I limit apps from accessing info they don't need.
