Depending on the context, pride can have a positive or negative connotation to it. When mentioned in the Bible as a negative characteristic, it is not one that is pleasing to God, but one He opposes (James 4:6).
Scripture says that pride goes before destruction (Proverbs 16:18). A proud person is one who strays from the commandments of God (Psalm 119:21), doesn’t hear or listen to the words of the Lord (Jeremiah 13:15) and isn’t willing to learn.
God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, nor are His ways our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9).
It’s important to be aware that there is always more to learn; and learning the correct doctrine/teaching gives us the ability to understand God’s heart and grow in a relationship with Him, but this can only be accomplished through humility.
