Why the hell is #TheVow power capped in #Destiny2? I thought they were done with that foolishness.

Cons and cults both fascinate me. The way people are brought in. The way harmless seeming language and behaviors are used to lay secret traps, ready to spring shut and keep you there when the time is right.

Human behavior is such a rich and interesting tapestry.

I've been watching #TheVow (docuseries about the #NXIVM cult), and it's been difficult at times because of the familiarity of so much of it as someone from an evangelical background.

I mean the "curriculum" has #BillGothard and #IBLP written all over it so to speak.

Anyway, the familiarity doesn't surprise me, but it's weird watching and going "that's classic cult behavior" and then thinking up half a dozen similarities with communities I've been exposed to. #CultDeprogramming #ReligiousTrauma

Finished watching #TheVow. While season one was compelling albeit problematic (particularly in its credulous handling of Mark Vicente: "What the bleep did he know, and when the bleep did he know it?"), season two was more troubling. Nancy Salzman repeatedly compromises her narrative of victimhood, but the filmmakers let her sweep enough under the rug (ahem, $500k in cash discovered on the premises of her home) that the viewer has to ask similar questions about them: Dupes or accomplices? #nxivm

Watched the last episode of #TheVow. Heart breaking seeing people who are in a vulnerable state just want to improve their lives and fall into a cult. The nxivm 5 are tragic figures, aren't they? What sets a person on a course to deny so much truth in front of them? Anyhow, interesting series. Let's be mindful out there.

i have been beyond obsessed with #TheVow on HBO. It's my first real deep dive in to the NXVIM world, following a years-long obsession with MLMs.

Now that I have added 86 articles to Instapaper, I shall retire to my den and watch the two episodes of #TheVow #tv #adhd

Same goes for #TheVow - I just lost interest 2 episodes into the current season.
