A huge thank you to everyone who's donating to my #Venus Cycle fundraiser! So many Burning #Tarot #podcast fans, so many wonderful folks from #TheWell ... seriously guys, you're making me tear up.
Funds that go over the goal amount will be directed to more #astrology education for yours truly! Much love. xoxo
PS: Ha ha ha, when I tried to type in "GoFundMe" at first? I typed... GodFundMe.

@stoicmike No way! Our userbase is small, but we continue on. I've been on The Well for 30 years, with one six-month break. Can't say the same for FB, Tribe.net, Twitter, or the others... The Well nowadays is characterized by a lot of thoughtfulness & community.
Being on Mastodon reminds me that I am largely reactive/responsive. I don't jump on here with some brilliant new post. I nose around other people's posts until something makes me feel like responding. I fare better in #TheWell (well.com). Back in my Facebook days I often hosted long, heated convos there. Masto and Birdsite remind me of soapbox hollers, principal's announcements on school intercoms, or children suddenly announcing, "I like ducks" or "I have to pee."
@mrscamacho Howdy Laura. Love your parenting description! I live #inBend #Oregon but #notreally - I'm near Sisters up the road apiece. I #write a column for the Nugget Newspaper and have been perpetually online since 1992 (particularly on #thewell well.com). I'll see your depression & autoimmune, raise you one bipolar & one fibromyalgia, & pass the kombucha. May your Long Covid lift soon.

Where is that book? Will it exist solely in the several trilogies of improvised, oral storytelling I've made up for my children?
If there had been no #TheWell to suck me in, and then later the entire Interwebs, would I have spent my time writing books instead of posts?
Or am I just one of those people who only writes short stuff—columns, posts, interviews, poems, songs, letters?
Introducing the one, the only—lil' ol' me. I'm a writer, Tarot reader, podcaster, mom, journalist, poet, musician, artist, editor, creative coach, & woods wanderer from the woods of Oregon (West Coast USA). Degrees from UC Berkeley & Goddard. I like to talk about, you know, like, whatever. My favorite online community & conversation can be found on The Well, and my website is https://tiffanyleebrown.com .

From Fierce Planet, some thoughts on the evolution of the Internet, from an old user.
"What have we done with the Internet?"
@randomdent Great to see so many old-school types on Mastodon, on your survey. Would be nice to have more options from back in the day, like the still-awesome, still-happening Well.com or the markedly less cool AOL and Compuserv.
And hey, let's not forget Sixdegrees! https://well.com for those interested in The Well.
@elipariser Hey, you forgot to include The Well... beats Slack any day of the week, and better interaction and community than Substack. https://well.com
The WELL, happening since the 1980s & happening still!

@hrheingold Well, it's easier to post photos (see my previous post of a sunset). And the search results for hashtags is pretty neat -- it has a little activity graph listed for each result.
Not sure how well it works for longer-ish messages. There's a 500-character limit -- anyone have stats on message lengths on #TheWell?
I switched to the advanced web interface, which is in columns like Tweetdeck. I pinned a column for #TheWell and plan to follow WELL-related convos there.
So what can we do here that we can't or don't do on #TheWell (I learned that it is customary on Mastodon to use CamelCase hashtags)
