It’s not that we dislike Will Shakespeare, it’s that he gets plenty of stage time. His contemporaries don’t, and some of them are 🔥🔥🔥

Did you miss it? Sak Supple has made his https://blplaybills.org/ site available again - search the OCR of about 80,000 theatrical English, Scottish, and Irish playbills between 1600 and 1902 (mostly 19th century)
Spread the word, #TheatreHistory #TheaterHistory folks!

This wildly ambitious project to consider for performance every single British play text from the earliest to 1642 (except the ones by that guy from Stratford) is not supported by any research body or cultural institution. It’s all done by volunteers, and supported by patrons. We’ve found some real gems, and we have the skills to stage entire seasons of them. Join our Patreon to see what we do this Saturday #theatre #drama #EarlyModern #EarlyModernDrama #TheaterHistory https://www.patreon.com/posts/81400353

A role I’ve always wanted to play for me in this one. Our work is entirely supported by patrons, and it’s not too late to sign up for access to Saturday’s livestream https://www.patreon.com/posts/81400353 #audioProduction #EarlyModern #tragedy #GreekTragedy #TheaterHistory #TheatreHistory

It’s been a while since I mentioned that I’m part of a group that reads plays online. We are working our way through every British performance text written before 1642 (except the ones by that balding guy with the goatee). Hi everyone! 👋
This is my #introduction in this new space:
I’m an early modernist and associate professor of English. I edit book reviews for Shakespeare Bulletin and editions of poems and plays by 17th c. women.
My first book, “The Elizabethan Country House Entertainment,” analyzes the most important kind of pageantry in 16th-century England. My current book, “Remaking Shakespeare’s Masques,” investigates how directors and editors have remade masques in Shakespeare’s plays to reveal shifting views of identity at different historical moments.
I’m researching women patrons of drama for a future project. And I love sharing ideas for teaching and learning new ones from you.
Some of my interests are: #EarlyModern #Shakespeare #BookHistory #TheaterHistory #WomenWriters #Pedagogy

Hi everyone! 👋
This is my #introduction in this new space:
I’m an early modernist and associate professor of English. I edit book reviews for Shakespeare Bulletin and editions of poems and plays by women that I hope others will teach and study.
My first book, “The Elizabethan Country House Entertainment,” analyzes the most important genre of pageantry in 16th century England. My current book, “Remaking Shakespeare’s Masques,” is about how directors and editors have remade masques in Shakespeare’s plays to confront (or try to sidestep) shifting views of identity at different historical moments.
I’m also researching women patrons of drama for a future project. And I love sharing ideas for teaching and learning new ones from you. Some of my main interests are:

I'm also way, way into #programming and #UNIX, textual interfaces (#cli, #tui), #typography, and document preparation systems (#TeX, #groff, #markdown, #asciidoc). Also: #coffee, #opera (the more recent the better), #electronic_music, #tape_recorders, ancient languages (#Greek, #Latin, #Hebrew), and #hiking. I teach courses on #SoftwareEngineering, but also #Shakespeare, #TheaterHistory, and (more recently) #BibleAsLit.
And finally, I'm an electronic composer, who forms one half of Perlin Trio (https://vimeo.com/user1776782 -- the other half being Brian Pytlik-Zillig). We create slightly surreal animations using #SVG and show them in gallery spaces of various kinds.
