Did you miss it? Sak Supple has made his blplaybills.org/ site available again - search the OCR of about 80,000 theatrical English, Scottish, and Irish playbills between 1600 and 1902 (mostly 19th century)

Spread the word, folks!

Let's play a game, to help some of the newcomers make connections: name subjects and topics that interest you but aren't in your profile, as tags so they are searchable. Then boost this post or repeat its instructions so others know to do the same. (via @fairhavenguy via @susanna@booksodon.com)

The managers named in this intriguing letter were very familiar names to J.W. Cragg, with Pullan being included in the name of a son born whilst the family were playing at his hall!

It’s easy to think of archives holding records from the distant past. But the Ransom Center already has an annotated script for the concert presentation of “Chess” with & from… Monday. That’s right! Theatre history less than a week old! Many thanks to award-winning lighting designer & mensch Kevin Adams for adding his latest work to his papers hrc.utexas.edu/research/guides

Many congrats to whose “The Ohio State Murders” opened last night as her long-awaited, overdue debut. Her archive at the reveals her complex process which often starts with images that she cuts and pastes into a form which makes sense to her. She then adapts those images into narrative prose, and then adapts the narrative prose into dramatic prose. norman.hrc.utexas.edu/fasearch

The Young Indiana Jones episode set in Dublin is mostly remembered for featuring the Easter Rising - but it also does a decent job of portraying the Irish theatrical scene at the time - Music Halls, The Abbey, Yeats and O'Casey

Really thrilled to speak about theatre ancestors for Emma Cox's 'Journeys into Genealogy' podcast. We got to talk about stuff I hadn't spoken about during previous podcasts such as stage names and diaries.

What was it like for your ancestors to attend a theatre in the 18th century? Here I cover the rowdy atmosphere of manners, celebrity, colour, special effects, and perhaps the infrequent event of seeing themselves in a mirror. abrahamadcock.com/manners-mirr
