Just watched the #ThreeBodyProblem trailer, and ... hm.

I haven't read the books, and honestly I don't really plan to, as they seem kinda ... bleak for my tastes.

And then Netflix is billing the new series as from the Game of Thrones guys, and given the last thing they did was ... S8 of Game of Thrones, that might not be the draw they think it is.

(I'm also mildly uncomfortable with the CCP's promotion of sci-fi literature as a propaganda tool, but that's another matter entirely).

I have been really enjoying the new Tencent “Three Body Problem” adaptation. It’s all sci-fi and existential dread. I haven’t read the books yet, they are next on my list after The Expanse. It’s really well done. Slow and plodding, like a book. Very excited for the whole thing to come out! #ThreeBodyProblem

I've been reading The Three Body Problem by Liu Cixin. It is a fascinating read, at times esoteric and other times surreally mundane. It occupies a scifi space similar to the old scifi classics, being less about people and more about providing a narrative framework for concepts? At least, so far. The human motivations are hinted at, but obscured. It was a slow start, but I am looking forward to continuing.
