I know, I could always get a flatpak - the future, no doubt. I just like gettings the basics from the distro. So, I'll just wait on :fedora:

The Conversations addon for #Thunderbird has been upgraded to 115, and having it back makes me realize how fundamental it is for my daily use. #Supernova is a welcome step for making Thunderbird a modern email client, but it requires a lot more work to make Conversations obsolete.

Ich bin positiv überrascht.

Da #Evolution unbedingt auf dem #gnome-desktop besteht unter #xfce, fiel es nun ganz raus aus der näheren Auswahl.

Thunderbird 115.1 Released with Bug Fixes & UI Buffs

The recent release of Thunderbird 115 (aka “Supernova”) seems to have gone down well with users of all shades, across all platforms — which is always nice to see. To keep things ticking over nicely a scheduled update to the open source email client is rolling out. The update brings a bunch of bug fixes to bear, plus a couple of minor UI tweaks. Thunderbird 115.1 hides the Quick Filter bar by default. I think this gives the e-mail client (in whatever layout you’re using) a sleeker presentation. Still it’s only hidden by default not removed; the Quick Filter bar :sys_more_orange:

Für #Gnome Nutzer gibt es ein schickes #Thunderbird-Theme, dass dem E-Mail Client ein #Adwaita-Outfit verpasst.

Sieht nicht nur hübsch aus, auch die Schrift passt sich besser in die Optik ein, als es die Standardinstallation vorgibt. Am besten einfach ausprobieren:

Seit nun drei Wochen bin ich nun mit #NixOS unterwegs und damit richtig zufrieden. Erst gestern habe ich meinen Dienstlaptop umgestellt:
OS installiert; Config kopiert und leicht angepasst; Switch. Fertig!
Super praktisch.

Nun bin ich mit #Thunderbird am hardern. Version 115 ist noch nicht im stable-Channel. Im Flatpak stimmt irgendwas mit der Schrift nicht. Also hab ich jetzt den unstable-Channel für die eine App aktiviert (siehe Bild). Wie würdet ihr das lösen?

You may find out that @ubuntu #Ubuntu LTS already comes with all the applications you want and/or need out of the box [i.e. @libreoffice, @mozilla #Firefox & #Thunderbird, @videolan #VLC, ...) and those that may not be included even on a full install are just a few clicks away [i.e. #Steam]...

The nice part is that unlike #Windows, you can just install #Ubuntu even on an external #HDD / #SSD or use it as "Live" System like @tails ...

I'd say give it a try...

Apparently I'll be the only one to say that I didn't like the new #Thunderbird UI just like I didn't like the old one. The interface is completely full of things everywhere, it even causes me anxiety.

Finally, #thunderbird #supernova via #flatpak! 🥳️ It is certainly a big step but there's still a lot to be polished and rethought which is why I am already excited for 116, 117, 118... 😝️ Now, the only thing "missing" IMHO is a #gtk4/#libadwaita style #gnome #theme like the one existing for #firefox. 🤓️ https://github.com/rafaelmardojai/firefox-gnome-theme

The new #Thunderbird looks awesome, with some configuration I think I will finally use it as daily driver
