#TimeTravelAuthors 9: Excerpt 'over'
*
Carrie counted to five before sitting back up.
โOkay, what? What?โ she demanded of her new roommate. โIs my makeup running? Do my running shoes not match my skirt? Am I giving off lesbian vibes? For the record on that last one, Iโm not going to ask you out. I already have a girlfriend, and am actually still kinda confused about my own sexuality.โ
Jenny finally blinked. โWow. Okay.โ
โYeah. So...โ Carrie winced. โSorry for the over share."
#TimeTravelAuthors 07 What would your main character do on a rainy day?
She would read anything and everything
#TimeTravelAuthors 05
Schooling/education in your story.
A host of academics are in charge of the #timetravel machine, which brings its own problems. The one person without an academic degree is the protagonist, Julia, the dean's assistant.

03 Does the past or future change because of time travel in your story?
In the series, history pushes back and so nothing gets changed. It presents a challenge for the characters, as they can't go wherever they want - sometimes they run into invisible walls.

#TimeTravelAuthors 9: over
Weโd sworn it then, and again that day on the shore, looking over the ruins of the ancient city, crumbled and sand-covered, his hand in mine, our fingers tightly interlaced. A promise for Iamos, and a promise for just Ceilos and me.
Those vows ate away inside me now. Weโd both sworn the same oath. But which one of us had upheld it? Him, or me?
#TimeTravelAuthors 7: Rainy Day?
It's an incredibly important question, because I tend to forget that weather is a thing when I write. (Many scenes happen indoors.)
The simple answer is one of catch up on school work, or time travel to a time when it was more sunny (for a run or something). The trickier answer would be finding the person they're interested in to do something with (not sure what, depends), given they'd also be dealing with rain.
#TimeTravelAuthors 7: What would your main character do on a rainy day?
We actually saw an example of this in FOURTH WORLD! He would go to his "volunteer" archaeology dig ๐
#TimeTravelAuthors 5: Education?
It's first year university in Ottawa, Canada. So classes are always going on in the background. One was even interrupted by snakes.
You want cast majors?
Carrie: Science (Health)
Carey: Science (Health)
Jenny: Science (Astronomy)
Ginny: Science (Physics)
Sherlock: Arts (Drama)
Heather: 3rd yr Engineering
Peaches: Science (Psych)
Chartreuse: Social Science
I haven't detailed the more minor characters yet.
#TimeTravelAuthors 5: schooling/education
Being a YA series, school is necessarily a part of the story, though it becomes less so after Books 1 and 1.5. I enjoyed envisioning the Academy, Kimbal Tech, Herschel, various different kinds of schools that the various characters wind up at at one point or another. We also see a brief glimpse at Isaak's sister's elementary school in the last book. In the ancient timeline, meanwhile, Nadin's tutor is important to the plot throughout the series.

#TimeTravelAuthors 9.3 Does the past or future change because of time travel in your story?
It doesnโtโturns out that a trip into the past makes sure things happen just the right way, and the present is nudged into the right path.

#TimeTravelAuthors 3: Does the past or future change because of time travel in your story?
The rules state that they can't change things or else it will destroy the universe... but they also have to ensure that things that were meant to happen do happen correctly, or else it will destroy the universe. It's a tightrope walk ๐
#TimeTravelAuthors 3: Past/Future Change?
There is usually no change. Except when there is. In fact, a big point of the first serial is Carrie wanting to change her future.
I posted up an excerpt long ago to partly explain how time travel changes work in my world, I'll repost here. Glen and Mindy are temporal experts explaining to the time group.
Starting the month out behind, as you do. Anyway, it's a new month and there are new people in #TimeTravelAuthors so intro time!
I am Lyssa and I have written a Time Travel Trilogyโข๏ธ set on Mars in both an ancient and future timeline. I'm currently working my way through copyedits for the last book in the series, and it's coming out on October 24!

#TimeTravelAuthors 1: New Intro
Jenny arrived at University, and suddenly ceased to exist. Momentarily. She then learned that her roommate, Carrie, would later travel back in time to save her life in the past... except it hasn't happened yet. Until it does, Jenny needs her roommate alive. Unfortunately, someone's trying to kill Carrie.
The post-secondary sequel to "Time & Tied" (on my serial website).
I have a completed 3-book series, the INCIDENT series, that spans history from Pompeii 79 AD to 1970s Ft. Myers, Florida. Each book is a standalone #mystery and the characters work in an #academic lab ("Time travel and academia can be a killer combination")

#TimeTravelAuthors 31: Free Space
I'll self promo this time, in part because:
1) I'm considering re-posting Time & Tied from my serial site to AO3. (It's already on RoyalRoadL too.) Any thoughts on that?
2) I'm hoping to run another multiverse "Epsilon Project" on my serial site in September. Won't necessarily have time travel, but you'd be voting on that. Interested?
All my writing is presently collected on this handy site: https://mathtans.wordpress.com/catalogue/
#TimeTravelAuthors 29: Alternate title
Hilariously, I never had any other ideas for the titles of the series other than the ones I used. I feel like they came pretty early on in development. But I was stuck on what to call the series itself. For a while I just envisioned putting "A Novel of Mars" on each of the covers and maybe referring to it as the Fourth World Trilogy when I needed to. It was my sister who suggested calling it The Iamos Trilogy, after Mars' ancient name in the series
