Heb jij Tina Turner live gezien in het Stadspark in Groningen op 18 juli 2000?
Het was uiteindelijk niet de laatste keer dat ze in Nederland kwam optreden. Dat was in 2009 in Arnhem, toen ze drie keer Gelredome wist uit te verkopen. Maar lange tijd leefde het gevoel dat het optreden in het Stadspark in Groningen op 18 juli 2000 het Nederlandse afscheid zou zijn. Voor 3voor12/Groningen schrijf ik een artikel over dat optreden.

Imagine being a black woman over the age of 40. In the 80’s, in an industry that rewards youth and a white aesthetic. Yet despite all of that, Tina rechartered her course by not only sheer will, but also what I can only surmise is a goddess like energy. Because only powerful beings have the ability to change destiny. She did this and how the world would define her.
