I've just launched a brand new set of community pages on the #TinyEgypt website for members of the Tiny Egypt Society. Members now have their own profiles, social feeds & can connect with me & other members, a little like Facebook. But with fewer people. (I haven't quite managed to reach half the world's population. Yet ... 😈)
If you want to get a peek at what you're missing out on, read this:

That first day back after new year is always going to be one for catching up with stuff, but I did manage to fit in putting the raw images of this amulet through the focus stacking software 😊
It's one of the amulets I photographed at Manchester Museum in early December for Tiny Egypt and depicts the god Shu - the air - with his arms up to support the sky.

Today I spent some time working on this magnificent little lapis lazuli Bes amulet at Manchester Museum - the intensity of the colour of the lapis lazuli is just gorgeous, and he still has remnants of gold leaf on his head 😍

Today I've been working on one of the images I captured the other week of this fabulous and rather unusual human-headed Bastet at #Manchester Museum for #TinyEgypt.
What you can't see here (because I've zoomed in in Photoshop) is that she has two little kitties sitting by her front legs 🥹
No provenance details right now as the museum's database is ongoing a revamp, so I'm having to wait a little. But it's likely Late Period-ish.

This week's #TinyEgyptTuesday is a 3.4 cm faience amulet of a composite deity, with the body of #Bes, a ram's head and horns (#Amun ...?) and the wings of a falcon (#Horus) down his back, now in the Garstang Museum of Archaeology in #Liverpool. Composite image made from 27 photos using focus stacking and exposure bracketing #TinyEgypt #AncientEgypt #Egyptology #Photography #MacroPhotography

Ancient Egyptian amulet of Thoth in his form of a seated baboon. His headdress is a full moon sitting atop a crescent moon, reflecting his role as a lunar deity. His name is inscribed on his chest.
He stands at just 5.5 cm tall and is in the collection at Manchester Museum.
I photographed him using a macro lens and this photo is part of my Shadow series within my #TinyEgypt photography project.
