Imagine this account's surprise in learning of so-called "Toronto"'s supposed progressive mayoral candidate and biggest challenger to joke of a mayor john tory, Gil Peñalosa's, involvement in corruption and mismanagement during his time in Bogotá, Colombia.

A let's say liberal-progressive Colombian recently mentioned to a user of this account Peñalosa in the same breath as (notorious) Uribe!
According to this young liberal-progressive, Peñalosa (or he and his family, anyway) was extremely corrupt "one of the most corrupt"(!) halting the development of Bogotá's long-discussed metro system due to his (family's) involvement with Volvo (who would go on to supply the city with their rapid bus system fleet) (similar to j-tory vis-à-vis rogers, yes).
This individual also mentioned the Peñalosas as even involved in Colombia's drug-trafficking!
Apparently their nickname in Colombia is Peñalos-er and his (Gil's) brother was the worst or second-worst mayor in all of Bogotá's history.

Very quick perusals of this individual's claims via online search engines seem to have some support.
' interested in urban progressive bros withdrawing (tacit or otherwise) support from him and his and his family's actions and Colombians' and Rolos' thoughts who know much more.

Something I'd like to see one day is banks who have HQ here in #Toronto #Tkaronto face consequences for violating the dish with one spoon treaty by funding oil companies. That would be a sign that #Reconciliation and #ClimateChange were being treated seriously by my government.

Cyclists are demonstrating against their being targeted by police in #Tkaronto at #highpark at 6pm/18:00 Eastern Time today, August 8.
They are calling out contradictions of the police and City government who have been ticketing cyclists for rolling stops and going a mere 6kph over the posted limit, while cars kill 100s and cop cars themselves have recently hit cyclists and in one case a cop even assaulted a cyclist in this same park

Surprising the lack of recognition so far for England's Euro winners - no bank holiday, not even a parade in London! Contrast that with say the Raptors' 2019 open bus-top parade through #Tkaronto after their winning the NBA finals, not even a traditional sport for population of that city
Also surprising is the lack of football on offer to girls in schools! Think read somewhere there's only like 55% of opportunities that are offered to boys
