I was surprised to find my #ToBeRead shelf has not grown so far this year. I have bought 22 books but also I have read 22 books. (Most recent "The Last White Man" by Mohsin Hamid)

But at 61 books on #MountTBR, it does make it hard to choose what to read.

How do you all do choose what to read next?

Just bought at the American Book Center in Den Haag: Spear by Nicola Griffith. I absolutely adored her very clever historical novel Hild, so I grabbed this Percival retelling without thinking. It’s a small, attractive hardback to boot.

Also finally bought, A Life With Footnotes by Rob Wilkins. Yes, I’ve been putting it off too and it might sit on the shelf for a while.

I’m currently reading A Primate’s Memoir: Love, Death and Baboons by Robert Sapolsky as recommended by #WhiteHorseBookgroup. I’m about three quarters of the way in and loving it. I’d hoped to have finished it by now but the festivities got in the way. According to my #Goodreads tally this will be the 117th book that I’ve read this year. I’ve just counted up the books that make up my #ToBeRead pile and it comes to exactly 117! I either need to get reading or head to the bookstore! Possibly both

If you could stop me buying books, that would be great. My #TBR pile is already enormous and I don't make nearly enough time to read.
