Imagine a mass of gas without movement above Earth's atmosphere. It will start falling onto earth. Will it create a pressure wave that sounds like an explosion?

If so, is it similar with a volcanic cloud that collapses? Can it be the origin of the pressure wave instead of the volcanic explosion per se?
