Mastodon does not use any #algorithms. When you #favourite a #toot you're showing the #tooter you appreciated the #toot. However this doesn't help expand reach.
The suggestion I'd make.. Go ahead & favourite the toot BUT also #boost it
Boosting the toot helps people in your timeline see it & so forth.

If this is not documented in the next weeks, I will try to find the routes by myself and to make the posts editable if possible, for you devs :)
