RESULT! There was never really any doubt but nearly 600 of you had your say so it looks like we can legitimately use #MastoDaoine from now on to locate the arrivals from #IrishTwitter.

Well, #TootsDéDanann is a play on Tuatha Dé Danann, in Irish mythology an ancient race of gods, warriors, kings & queens, poets, healers, bards & other beings who have supernatural powers. In #MastoDaoine , 'daoine' is a common Irish word that means people (plural of 'duine'/person, but also alludes to us as folk, a tribe. Feel welcome, and vote away!

@LorcanMac I am very sorry Lorcan, we proceeded with the final poll before I saw this. It's close to #TootsDéDanann at least, which did make it to the final!

Here it is, the final poll to rename #IrishTwitter as we seek shelter on the welcoming plains of @mastodonie . These options are the winners of our 3 previous heats. I acknowledge the later suggestions that came through - some of them weren't different enough to warrant a new heat, some were exceptionally niche, all were appreciated.

@MinceirBeoir As mentioned above I think #MastoDaoine is becoming the most popular choice. I did see a few toots asking that we make sure to use #CamelCase in our hashtags (using a capital letter in each word in the hashtags so they can be read by screen readers) and I believe @betaburns is gonna capitalise the D in MastoDaoine in the final poll! I like it & I like #TootsDéDanann

I am still spontaneously lolling at #TootsNahEireann as well as #TootsDéDanann but I do recognise that #mastodaoine is likely to win.
