#UK is debating #migration out of no reason other than #ToryHypocrisy and conservative need for political diversion from the real issues. Once again it looks like even its the open minded people sound like they believe they live in an isolated peninsula. It is true that UK is an island but it is an ideological and cultural illusion that it is isolated. Migration is an inevitable fact of climate change and building walls against it won’t do. I recommend John Lanchester’s The Wall.

A new example of #Toryhypocrisy; we now have data on the recent development in the #genderpaygap in the Cabinet office.

last year (on ONS figures) the UK pay gap between men & #women was 8.3% (average/overall);

The median pay between men & women in the Cabinet office jumped from an already above average 9.8% to 16.6% last year (there are similar if less dramatic rises in gap elsewhere in Govt. too).

Still those tousle-headed private school Tory boys need more cash to spend on #champagne!
