Our kid's area has a farm theme, so about every six months we get a new kid singing

Well poo. Someone used my library to DDoS Wikipedia. We've been blocked from creating an acount. I was trying to do so to get the old style back. The new style doesn't print well, and we have a patron that we print a LOT for.

Buh.

Also tried on Tor and Wikipeida was like, "lol No."

Guess I have to make it at home. If it will let me log in at all here.

...Wonder if there is a Firefox Add On to do this...

Cute toddler wandering around outside of the children's area tonight. They REALLY want to go under the circ desk to see what's behind it. Squealing when their mom keeps them from doing that.

That said, it looks like their mom is letting there hair grow out, but only the back of it is long. So it looks like hair Jack Nicholson would have to make him look older and extra deranged. Otherwise, cute.

So work warned that they were changing the automated call system so everyone got every closing call. But the fucking thing didn't use the actual branch abbreviation, nor state the branch name. So I was fully awake by the time I was pretty sure it wasn't me that was called off.

I don't think i went fully back to sleep, so that was 30 minutes lost.

Ugh.

Hey #librarians! I've got a question.

With the coming death of the #Overdrive app, what is your favorite #ebook reader to recommend for patrons for reading non-library books?

I used to use Overdrive for that. Now on PC I'm using #Freda and on Android #KOreader, but I'm always interesting in new apps. Particularly from the Google Play Store and Apple Appstore. I like F-Droid, but that's way too complicated for patrons.

I'm in adult, but hearing the excited children over the wall is still cute af. There was one mom carrying (I assume) the younger sibling who was asleep on her shoulder.

Not a fan of kids arguing over chess/checkers, but otherwise...

41F/5C and feels like 34F/1C right now. Supposed to get waaaaaay lower as the night and day go on.

Really hoping they cancel work tomorrow. Three neighboring systems already have. One until Tuesday.

Got sent to be the person in charge at another branch this morning. Ended up following our book truck there. Which kept me honest. I was thinking about a diet coke and hashbrown on my way here. XP

This is my first time at this branch as an employee. It was my home branch as a kid. It looks good. They got rid of that "bookstore shelving" that only Pages knew where anything was and that was vogue a couple of decades ago thankfully.

Not too bad so far.

Has anyone found an app that can run library ebooks that works on Android amd PC and has synch that isn't Kindle? I would rather not use Amazon, but I despise Libby's web browser reading interface.

Ugh, they guy strikes again. A dude brings in an alt-right "newspwper" every once in a while and leaves them on the shelf. We throw them out as soon as we find them. Have yet to catch him to tell him to stop.

The Polar Express has left the building!

Anyway. Next month's book is The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. I picked up a large print copy as I'm still reading something else on Libby.

And MAN. Holding a physical book was nice. I haven't really done that in a while.

I attended a virtual book club tonight that I'm talking with the librarian running it about co-hosting. My thought is that one branch might not have enough genre fiction readers to justify a book club, but two might.

Me being the only person who showed up for The Hogfather by Terry Pratchett is a sign that might be needed.
