It was heartbreaking to wake up this morning to the news of a shooting at Club Q, a gay club in Colorado Springs. It would have been heartbreaking no matter what, but since coming out of being bedbound I've spent a lot of time in queer spaces in ways I never got to before, and I've started to forge chosen family and community, and my grief and rage at this senseless queerphobic violence against people who have offered me nothing but safety and love is magma-hot. And on the Trans Day of Remembrance, of all days.

They can keep trying to kill us. They can keep trying to kick us down. I am not afraid. I am *angry*. And I will keep using that anger for the benefit of my community: to love fiercely, to protect passionately, to mourn those who should not need to be mourned, and to carry their memories with us as we fight for change.

The chalk drawing I did for #TransDayOfRemembrance at my local LGBTQ+ center! We were explicitly told not to write anti-cop stuff because they didn't want to antagonize the police, especially because they've apparently served the center very well. The mayor came down and said hi and read out a proclamation to us.

Today is transgender day of remembrance, when we remember those we lost along the way.
I wanted to go to a local event to mark this, but it's my last day with my wife for a whole month😓
But I'll be thinking about it anyway. Stay strong and keep safe friends, I don't want to lose any of you.

Today is #TransDayOfRemembrance and it was an incredibly hard day. I am in pain hearing and reading about everyone taken from us, I cried, I’m so angry and I felt so alone. Please, take care of each other if you can.

Touching, haunting, and vital candlelight vigil for #TransDayOfRemembrance with the names of the hundreds of trans people who lost their lives to hate this year read out. We must all stand by and with the trans community. #TransRightsAreHumanRights

As a trans person myself, #TransDayOfRemembrance reminds me that I can not plan ahead. My future is always in the balance and every day is a present that I hold tenderly.

#TransDayOfRemembrance is something I struggle with. I used to run an event in #SecondLife where people could come and quietly light a candle that would remain for year. For me it's personal, too many friends long gone.

I'm absolutely disgusted by the tragedy that took place... on #TransDayOfRemembrance of all days... not that any day would been better, as these senseless acts of violence should never be tolerated. If you hate people, you have a problem with yourself. Take care of it.

Queer family: take care of yourselves today and in the coming days in the aftermath of Colorado Springs, however that looks. 💔

Rage. Scream. Cry. Breathe. Laugh. Reach out. Resist. Find whatever joy you can, if you like.

To my white #trans siblings,

When we think about our siblings who were murdered or otherwise killed by effects of institutional #transphobia on this #transDayOfRemembrance it is vital to remind ourselves that it is our Black & other BIPoC siblings who are at disproportionate risk for a premature end. Yes we are at heightened risk compared to our cis counterparts but that pales in comparison. Transphobia cannot be solved without addressing & mitigating the effects of #racism as well.
