I am not trans, but many of my dearest and most important friends are. I have no family, so they became my family. I would not be alive if it wasn't for each and every single one of them.

Every day, the powers that be and the ignorant are doing everything they can to erase my family from the world. Slowly, but surely, rights are being chipped away at. Don't think because you are cis that you are safe. Trans rights are rights for everyone, and once those in power take those rights away, your rights are coming next.

We shed tears today, for lives lost and at danger. We were outraged about hatred, laws and the endless violence. We grieved. We raised our clenched fists to the sky. Why.

We shared connection and beauty, because we are, in our own unique way. Individuals but also family. Chosen family. Connected through pain but also joy. We celebrated, euphoria. We uplifted each other. Look at them, how stunning. Community.

We are here.
