On board #ÖBB #DB #EuroCity 114 “Wörthersee” northbound to #Salzburg 🇦🇹 earlier today. This is a push-pull operation with a #DB 🇩🇪 class 101 electric at the rear. One of the 1st class carriages is a former #TransEuropExpress car from the 1960s, rebuilt several times since, yet still keeping some of its original design features. A cosy atmosphere in the compartment with its comfy seats!

The #Montpellier 🇫🇷 to #Barcelona 🇪🇸 “Catalan Talgo” is seen here arriving at #Narbonne.
At the border, an hour further south, these former #TransEuropExpress #Talgo cars will pass a gauge-changing mechanism before continuing on Spanish broad gauge.

Vienna 🇦🇹 Hauptbahnhof earlier today: the #Budapest 🇭🇺 to #Prague 🇨🇿 vv. #RegioJet services make a station stop here. Their consists regularly include former #DB 🇩🇪 #TransEuropExpress #TEE carriages, built in the 1960s: these comfortable cars come with a very generous legspace.

Seen while arriving at #Munich 🇩🇪 Central Station: a #DomeCar, most likely privately owned. These cars used to be part of the #Rheingold #TransEuropExpress consist in the 1970s.

The #FS 🇮🇹 #ETR302 #Settebello trainset is seen here at #Ancona yard. These units used to work the most prestigious trains in the country, including a #Rome to #Milan #TransEuropExpress #TEE until the mid-1980s.

I am travelling in “low cost” class wich is the cheapest option, yet it is incredibly comfortable: the open saloon coach is a former German #TransEuropExpress 1st class carriage.

In December 2006: from #Düsseldorf to #Munich East on board the #DB 🇩🇪 daytime #Autozug car-carrying train. Plenty of old railway charm. The comfy seating carriages have originally been used on #TEE #TransEuropExpress services and the @diningcar comes with a very 1970s interior.

From #Salzburg to #Carinthia on board #DB 🇩🇪 #ÖBB 🇦🇹 #Eurocity EC115 “Wörthersee”. The train is running on time and comes with a former #TransEuropExpress compartment carriage. Very comfortable!
Also: nice mountain views - difficult to capture though, at dusk, as the train speeds southwards.
