We recently tested out the idea of doing from using the . Kepler has so far found thousands of but using the , not microlensing. But in 2016, before it stopped working, it did a mini microlensing survey. Kepler wasn't designed to do microlensing and colleagues spent years developing a pipeline that would work. Then, my Iain McDonald and I built a sophisticated pipeline to find candidates (6/n)

One method is . in his of predicted that light can be deflected by . Microlensing is a great way to find cool that orbit further out from their than those that can be seen with the . We can spot a number of these each year by monitoring hundreds of millions of every 15 minutes or so for several months per year. That's a lot of to process, but are fast these days. (3/n)

Currently we know of more than 5000 using a variety of techniques and survey instruments. So far most have been found using the where we look for tiny dips in as one of its passes in front of it. However this method tends to more easily pick out planets that are large (like ) and close in to their - making them . We have no planets like that in our , but there are other methods we can use.
