Einfach #TrueNASSCALE und dann dort die #VMs und #Docker Images (#Nextcloud) laufen lassen oder lieber #Proxmox und dann #TrueNas mit PCI-Passthrough laufen lassen? Bei mir läuft die erste Option seit einem Jahr und bin semi-zufrieden. Würde gerne zur Proxmox Variante wechseln, weiß aber, dass das von TrueNAS nicht offiziell unterstützt wird. #itsupport

Maybe I'll use this to talk about my server/PC nerd things I've been doing. I just added #pihole to my #TrueNASSCALE and it's already made the internet a better place for me. I only wish my ISP router would let me change the damn DNS server so I don't have to change it on each device

I'm working on my first diy home server.
Basic stuff: serve media, backup and share pictures, pihole, matrix server and maybe hosting my own webpage or masto instance (still debating on that one).

I'm wondering if I should go the #truenasscale or #ubuntuserver way ?

Mind you that I don't have any particular experience with neither of those. I'm open to suggestions.

Also, I have problems connecting to the #UniFiController from a browser and the #UniFiApp so there remains a distinct possibility that this setup is not working smoothly yet. Not sure if I got the entire App setup in #TrueNASScale correct, especially with the traffic that is or is not sent through #Traefik.

I set up #UniFiController as an App in #TrueNASSCALE. I don’t know if it the controller is a problem, or if it’s just alerting me to the fact that two of my APs are constantly disconnecting/reconnecting, or a bit of both. Maybe I need to downgrade the firmware on the APs to see if that helps.

I plan to switch from #TrueNASCore to #unraid . First I thought about using #TrueNASSCALE since it's Linux based and I can run docker with it,... But since I use my #Nas/server for private use I would like to spin down my HDDs from time to time, and that isnt straight forward with #zfs. Any thought?

Is there any #homelab or #selfhost os that supports setting up a mastodon server? I want to host my own instance I think. I am looking into #TrueNasScale but it doesn’t look like they have an app like that…

Or I'm not actually understanding it, either way having persistent storage that is simple to setup that works similar to cloud providers is a big deal, IMO #Kubernetes, #truenas #TrueNASScale
