Ab in die Wüste

Die EU belohnt die #Deportation von Flüchtlingen durch tunesische Behörden in die #Wüste und sagt #Tunis #Finanzhilfen im Wert von weit mehr als einer Milliarde Euro zu. Dies ist das Ergebnis eines Treffens von EU-#Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der #Leyen sowie den Ministerpräsidentinnen #Italien​s, Giorgia #Meloni, und der #Niederlande, Mark #Rutte, mit Tunesiens Präsident Kaïs #Saïed am Sonntag in Tunis. Laut einer Übereinkunft, die beide Seiten unterzeichneten, stellt Brüssel Tunis unter anderem 105 Millionen Euro zur #Flüchtlingsabwehr sowie #Kredite von 900 Millionen Euro zur Verfügung, wenn #Tunesien als Gegenleistung #Flüchtlinge aus #Europa fernhält. Während die EU und die tunesische Regierung in den vergangenen Wochen das Papier erarbeiteten, das #Brüssel zufolge als Grundlage für eine „umfassende strategische #Partnerschaft“ dienen soll, deportierten die tunesischen Behörden mehrere hundert Flüchtlinge in ein Wüstengebiet und setzten sie dort schutzlos aus. Die EU reagiert mit der Zusage der Finanzhilfen und macht sich damit, wie Amnesty International konstatiert, zur „Komplizin“ bei künftigen Verbrechen.
