Following my earlier post today on the #Kenya #Drought ⬆️ i just wanted to add this @mongabay report on #Turkana people having to switch from #Pastoralism to #Fishing in Lake Turkana as pastorialism is no longer viable for them given the ongoing, devastating
drought. Let’s make a collective effort to get the experiences of people struggling so very much due to #climateEmergency #ClimateCrisis heard in our #ClimateDiary

RT @WFP_Kenya: Catch of the day! Lake #Turkana’s tasty Nile perch🐟. At 20kg, one fetches about 4,000Ksh. This group in Kalokol catches at least 25 a day. Now, they can preserve the fish thanks to freezers & sheds provided by 🇪🇺@EUinKenya via @WFP_Kenya's #resilience programme.

Each social media platform has its own rules. Some are explicit, some are unwritten, and on some sites they are made up on the spot. All rules are somehow made, and can be changed, formally or informally. Sarah Mathew, Gillian Hadfield and team explore:
While many societies have formal rules about how rules are made, and formal organisations to make and uphold them, some societies don't (e.g. #Turkana); and in formal systems, rules are added and changed informally. What #metanorms govern this?

The Ilimanyang sub tribe community of Turkana people, have rare disorders such as dry skin and lack of hair on their heads. Adult members of the minority group have only two teeth out of the normal 32. They carry water wherever they go to cool their bodies because they don't have pores on their skin to sweat. The rare conditions appear among males, and they don't live past 30 years. They are 39 in total and they are on brink of extinction.
