Another #TurksAndCaicos #Shark photo, this time a Carribean reef shark. Not quite the puppy dogs that Nurse sharks, still not aggressive towards humans. Or so I tell my excitable self every time one shows up.

This one site on French Cay called G-spot (nominally because of the shape of the wall), always seems to have lots of Nurse sharks around at night. They use the divers lights to hunt, and generally behave very differently from the day time. This one zipped between me and the reef (about 1m away from me here.

Unlike nurse #sharks, #Caribbean #Reef Sharks are a bit more standoffish. Which is just as well if you happen to have a macro lens on your camera. #TurksAndCaicos

See what I mean about single minded #NurseShark hunting? This at French Cay in #TurksAndCaicos. It's at night, so the image quality is not the best (some combination of equipment and operator incompetence).

Lots of nurse #sharks in #TurksAndCaicos this week. They remind me a bit of dogs. During the day they are sweet natured, the younger ones follow you around curiously. At night they single mindedly hunt for food. You don't want to get in their way just because they are big, fast moving, and not paying attention to you. They don't have big teeth, but apparently they can give painful hickeys (they feed by suctioning hapless mollusks out of their shells).
