I wanted to be excited about this game but Edge has been terrible at promoting their stuff, because of asmodee's bs. Fantasy Flight was great at promoting everything.

Anyway I will be playing #TwilightImperium #EmbersOfTheImperium at some point. First time playing #Genesys as well because this is one of my favorite board games ever and it always inevitably turns into an RPG experience.

Looking over Embers of the Imperium, the #TwilightImperium sourcebook for #Genesys. Whoo, that is a lot of lore to read over. I am grateful for all the "fluff", but I can see how it may be daunting to folks completely unfamiliar with the TI universe.

#Android #ShadowOfTheBeanstalk is a bit easier to get people into, as it is near-future Earth with lots of familiar touchstones. TI is full-on space opera with millennia of events and "strange alien lifeforms".

Since Asmodee messed up everything on the past two years it's been really hard to follow the development of Embers of the Imperium, a Twilight Imperium #ttrpg using the Genesys System. But there's finally a landing page for it. And I'm thinking next year there might be official rpgs for two of my favorite board games ever #Gloomhaven and #TwilightImperium

Apparently #introduction is a reasonably important thing to mastodon users. So I’ll do mine now. I’m The_Asshat. I followed in the wave of #infosec folks migrating here from birdsite. Despite my name, I do try to be a reasonable person. As of now, I do vulnerability management for a F500 however I’m working on sharpening up my #offensivesecurity skills to get some work in pentesting or red teaming.

Outside of infosec and #hacking, I entertain myself with #dungeonsanddragons and tabletop games such as #TerraformingMars, #Scythe, #Gloomhaven, #TwilightImperium, #MechsVsMinions and many others. I also enjoy #bbq so I’m likely to post pictures of meats I’ve grilled or smoked.

For more active hobbies I’ve been honing my marksman skills to hopefully take up competition shooting in a year or two, depending on the ending timing of one of my campaigns.

I do tend to post about a myriad of things, but I’ll try to keep things infosec focused for the most part here, and I understand that CWs are a significant part of mastodon’s existing culture. So if I’m significantly off topic ill try to remember to call it out.

Twilight Imperium. Perhaps the pinnacle of strategy board games? (fight me...). We’re learning, so it took 2 hours to play the first round in the #ShedofDespair. Might finish this side of Christmas?

For the past month, I’ve been playing a game of #TwilightImperium asynchronously and I’m surprised at how much I enjoy the format.

There’s a bit of a learning curve with the text-based interface, but instead of dedicating a whole day to the game, players can take their turns and respond when they are available. I find it to be a lot more manageable.
