Regarding 👆

Have a look at

ark-ui.com/

It is a "fully customizable, and component [framework]".

No . No . Just use your own . Love it! ❤️

I've just used their Select component and it works so intuitively!

They have a guide on how to style their components (there are multiple ways):

UIs vs sheet layouts, go!

What do you like to see in video game screens that you don’t often see in physical game sheets? What do you like in ttrpgs that you don’t see in video games? What usability lessons from one are useful in the other? What things would you specifically *not* want ported over because they wouldn’t translate well?

Show me some screenshots!

@hackernews while I appreciate the intent, I can't imagine dealing with the incredibly ugly results. It needs to be considered that many people have multiple screens, and that wider screens need to be treated differently.

is truly one-of-a-kind technology!

Probably the most approachable and expressive UI language out there.

If you have to design a GUI, use CSS (except if you have a very good reason not to)!

Just noticed a very subtle but also slightly annoying change in Instagram's user interface. Below a post, usernames used to be bold to quickly differentiate from the rest of the comment text. Now, usernames look exactly the same as the comment, so it requires just that tiny bit of extra time to read past username and start reading the actual comment. Having contrast between these two distinct elements was helpful, and to me this was a move in the wrong direction.

Someone out there is still teaching people that "users don't scroll" and "above/below the fold" are still a thing and I want them to stop

I'm building a City Map creator. Use clicks to make Regions, and it draws/populates them
I'm struggling to know where to put Controls:
Drawing e.g. undo/clear, drawMode (palace, park, market, housing), rename Regions etc
I've currently got some Buttons, but they are not scalable, and only for my testing

All advice gratefully received!

Halp! Does anyone have experience with pdfs?

I'm trying to make our materials screen reader accessible, but we're running into major bugs with Adobe Acrobat.

Our tags keep disappearing or losing their text. I can't tag a newly added page. The reading order tool messes up the visuals.

I'm at my wits end to be frank.
One of our beta testers is , so I want to give them the best experience possible.

Quote for truth from a friend of mine:
Any time a user interface tells you not to do something, somebody hasn't done their job properly.

@vwbusguy how did I not previously notice that in 24hr time, Mastodon displays "24:03" as a valid timestamp rather than 00:03 as it should be? Just noticed.

Had my first real taste of and it didn't really hit that "once you try it, you'll love it" effect that is supposed to happen. I think it sets up too much of a false dichotomy between utility and semantic classes. The situation feels similar to balance needed for a design system: there needs to be both structural and semantic components to work properly. Outside of prototyping, I'm not convinced I wouldn't be better served expanding my knowledge of CSS instead.
