I'm looking for recommendations for an accountant to help me with my first tax return/self assessment (currently self employed).

Please only recommend accredited professionals who are qualified to work in England (UK)

I'm not yet totally sure about my budget, but would prefer something a bit more personal than the sites that seem to just be a platform and you get a random accountant assigned.. so would pay more for that.

I try to buy from/work with people who are part of marginalised groups where possible. And ideally ethical/climate conscious. Though I'm not going to be a very big client so it's not going to make a massive difference.

Even better if they're or local (West or South West London) or will do video calls if necessary. (Not essential)

@djpolley I agree that capital gains rates need to be equalised again with income tax. But the idea that wealth taxes can raise significant amounts year on year is not borne out by the evidence - those countries that had them have mostly dropped them. Probably better to do something with council tax, revaluing and adding a number of extra bands at the top. #UKtax #wealthtax
