(1/3) 👀🚨⚠️❗
#ANDROID $users, do these before #charging in #public #ports :
1) #Disable #USB #debugging in #Developer #settings( it's off by #default, but if u have #enabled it previously, better turn it off)
Q: What if I already turned it on?
A: It's not much of a #problem if u didn't give 'Allow' #permission on asking for USB #debugging #permissions when u #connect to a #charging port(usually the permission won't #popup if it's just a charging port)

@lexd0g yeah...
I get the drift...
Personally, I just want a TUI and a physical keyboard...
If you know any good #USB (!) Wired (!!) Thumb (!!!) Keyboards, let me know!

@AlanyG21 @fuchsiii @foone in terms of Adaptors to "harvest" if you want to try the cheap USB route, I can recommend the (#4G only but cheap!) #ZTE #MF79U and #Alcatel #LinkKey.
Both basically work out of the box on #Linux and #FreeBSD as #USB-"#Ethernet" adaptors and are essentially portable routers w/o battery.
The MF79U also has WiFi Router Function (2,4 GHz bgn) so it's a practical option that costs <€50 and just works...

@AlanyG21 @fuchsiii @foone So nothing but budget, time and soldering or at least layouting skills prevent one from slapping an #RM500Q onto an adaptor and roll withit.

In fact, there are #M2 adaptors for #ExpressCard made by #ThinkMods that do this, and personally I'd just take something like an #LTE-#USB Stick and wire it up to the USB lines...
#USB #lte #ThinkMods #ExpressCard #M2 #rm500q
@AlanyG21 @fuchsiii @foone Eeyupp...
There are basically passive adapters since #ExpressCard is just #PCIe 1.1-2.0 + #USB 2.0 or a hot-plug capable, external variant of #MiniPCIe aka. #MiniCard.
And OFC there are adaptors for that...

@jwildeboer @fuchsiii so if you find some #wired #usb #keyboard in #thumb form factor that is still in production, let me know...

Cuz right now I feel forced to DIY one with some microswitches and a Teensy...

@thememesniper and I though soldered-down SSDs made up of proprietary Flash Chips that WILL INEVITABLY FAIL OVER TIME and thurn the device into a brick when it does because the #Apple #AEFI aka. #BridgeOS is also on the EXACT SAME FLASH CHIPS!
So one can't even reuse the device woth a #Linux on a #USB Flashdrive like a Store&Stay - alike dongle that basically ends up flush and doesn't break off easily.

In the house for testing: Nomad's new $110 130W, 3-port USB-C charger; sweet little $25 ChargeKey USB-C cable, with nice magnetic closing clasp; and $50 3m Kevlar USB-C cable, super beefy. They all have excellent build quality, but note that the charge cables only support slow USB 2.0 data speeds.

And yes I know all those wireless keyboards that exost and the fact that someone converts new old stock #BackBerry keypads to #USB - not to nention the various USB Tablet Cases..
But I do want something like the #Nokia #Communicator or #Motorola #Fliput in terms of #size and form.
Bonus points if it has an #UltraNav-Style #Trackmpoint!

#Hardware #tinkering.
I'm looming for a thiny #Thumb #Keyboard (kinda lie a 60% or 40% board that is tiny) that connects via #USB (wired!) to any host device.
Kinda like the #Dreamgear #MiniKey or the #Xbox360 #ChatPad but it needs to be either FLOSH or at least be still made to this day AND work natively as Keyboard.
It can't be wireless!!!

@Matjoe @itsfoss I feel like #linuxaudio has made a lot of progress over the last couple of years. Not only in terms of #plugins available natively (see e.g. https://linuxdaw.org/) but in particular because of #pipewire. If you want to give it another try I'd be there to help (if I can). 🫣️🙂️ PD: I sold my arsenal on UA interface and accelerators and went on to an #rme #fireface #usb #classcompliant interface with an AD extension unit and never looked back. 🤓️

@fwaggle It can boot #32bit #Linix from #USB on #MBR-formatted #Flashdrives withoit #SecureBoot...
So basically you can just make your own custom multiboot stick with #Ventoy ( http://ventoy.net ) and drag&drop your ISOs into it.
#Ventoy #secureboot #flashdrives #mbr #USB #linix #32bit
@lethalbit Considering the speed and cost, that is somewhat expected.
Personally, I wished for a #RAMDISK that is accessible via #SATA, #USB, #SDIO and/or #PCIe:
Like the #iRAM, #CGRAMDISK & #HyperDrive5:
