My dissertation proposal was approved! My haunted collection of stories, ghost interviews & confessions is officially going to be the thing I do to earn my PhD!

The short title is "Texan Gothic" and I can't wait to showcase a sample as the chapbook, *Santa Muerte Santa Muerte: I Was Here Release Me releasing in from Tram Editions February 2023!!

Since I've recently migrated to @hcommons.social I thought I'd post a new #introduction.

I'm an author of three short collections of #poetry and one full-length collection, all published since 2016. I'm also a #PhD candidate at #UTDallas, a Spanish to English translator, and I occasionally moonlight as an oral historian.

My current research explores Latin American folk medicine, witchcraft, shamanism, and the importation of these practices to the US through #immigration. Specifically, I'm interested in how marginalized populations--particularly immigrants--in US/Mexican borderlands heal and grieve.

I write and publish #poetry, #essays, and #fiction, and frequently post calls for submissions, fellowship / grant opportunities, conference opportunities, and general #literature gossip.
