The only "Competing Option" would be to painstakingly setup #an On-Premise #CanonicalLandscap, #VPN and setup #Ubuntu LTS on external SSDs.

Personally, I think that having a second drive and/or booting @bunsenlabs #BunsenLabs #Linux to update the tails ISO securely is a more convenient option that doesn't require costly centralized infrastructure and just works.

I'd rather donate for that than having to subscribe to #Canonical's @ubuntu #UbuntuPro + more work.

I'm running #Ubuntu on my server but I'd like to move away from it. Was thinking of #Fedora server but I'd like something that isn't all new and just works, maybe I'm doing it a disservice. I was thinking that might be #CentOS but I've now caught up on that big palaver.

I used to love #Arch when I was younger but I have kids now and can't devote the energy to it, I just want a stable OS to run #Docker containers on that's easy to install and doesn't shove #UbuntuPro or #Snaps down my throat.

If you thought you wouldn’t be bothered by Ubuntu’s (mildly annoying) apt “awareness” feature or Ubuntu Pro updates as you don’t use the command line, bad news. Ubuntu will start showing apt news and Ubuntu Pro updates in the Software Updater app on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS later and above in the coming months. To be fair, neither feature is meritless. Apt news is used to inform users of critical security incidents in the wild (though so far it’s only been used to promote Ubuntu Pro). Canonical says it can “help people understand the nature of recent updates and inform their :sys_more_orange:
