Heute war ein erfolgreicher Tag. Nach langem zögern habe ich meinen #Heimserver auf #RaspberryPi Basis ersetzt durch einen x86 #ThinClient (HP T620) mit #UbuntuServer.

Was macht mein Heimserver? DHCP und DNS mit #dnsmasq, #Samba Server, Webserver #Apache für meine #php Projekte und als #nextcloud zur automatischen Datensicherung von den Familienhandys.

Mit meinen am Raspberry erbastelten #Linux-Kenntnissen habe ich es geschafft sogar die Nextcloud Instanz umzuziehen ohne Datenverlust. (1/2)

Hurra, hurra. Erste Schritte bei der Einrichtung meines neuen Homeservers waren erfolgreich.
Jetzt geht's bald in die Vollen. Serverdienste und Daten vom alten Raspberry 4 auf die neue Höllenmaschine umziehen.

@WintaireJae for me it's mostly #Arch, as I love being on the bleeding edge, although I often use #UbuntuServer on servers, due to the stability and how standard it is there.

It gave me a bit of heck, but I just set up my first #samba share on #UbuntuServer and it feels pretty good. #NoGui

Yesterday I needed a GUI on one of my old #raspberrypi 3s. I was never comfortable with raspbian and though I liked ubuntu mate, it was a bit sluggy. So this time I took an ubuntu server image and installed a desktop myself (lubuntu in this case - but I will try an even leaner one later.) Works really great - give it a try!

I forgot how long it takes with such a small machine to pull up a desktop (and I did not even have to compile anything). Did this with the bsds all the time.

By the way: what is state of the art with #bsd on the raspberry pi today? Would prefer to use it but do not have the time at the moment to do the research.
