While #smut fungi (#Ustilaginomycotina) are typically parasites of #angiosperms, #Uleiella chilensis grows exclusively on cones of the monkey puzzle tree (#Auracaria araucana) in #Chile.
Within the smut fungi, the #Uleiellales have evolved as a distinct group.
