Had to change my #UnifiedPush provider from #ntfy to FCM for #Tusky as I was barely getting any notifications.

I'm certain it wasn't an issue at my end, but I've only had issues with instances run by Masto Host.

My suspicion is that there are so many instances hosted there all behind 3 IP addresses (I think) that I suspect those IPs are getting rate limited by the ntfy.sh server. Not sure if there's any way around it other than to host my own ntfy server?

More #devs need to use #UnifiedPush.

I run a #Nextcloud instance with the #NextcloudUnifiedPush app and #NextPush on my phone and it works nicely.

Musing on what all it'd take to run a furry-instance-focused Ntfy server for folks to get push notifications, but not sure it's exactly worthwhile. #ntfy #unifiedpush

Spent some time setting up #synapse to act as a personal/family #matrix server. After a couple of hours I have the server deployed via a custom #ansible role and reverse proxy working. Next up #federation, testing #UnifiedPush with #ntfy and deploying a TURN server.

The #ntfy app/service is pretty amazing. I'd probably only add a few things: signing and/or encryption, and the ability to use a self-hosted server as a relay to follow other servers such as ntfy.sh. The latter would be useful if such a server is ever used for public service announcements, or to use ntfy.sh only for #UnifiedPush and your own server for everything else.

It's all open source, so I could add it! Maybe I'll give it a shot sometime soon.

#ntfy v2.6.0 has been released with PWA support and a dark theme for the web app.

IMHO the only valid alternative to cloud services like Pushover, PagerDuty & Co.

It can also be used as a #UnifiedPush provider for #tusky or various #matrix apps to receive notifications.

Kurzer Erfahrungsaustausch gewünscht: Ich nutze Tusky auf GrapheneOS mit #UnifiedPush via #ntfy. Hat am Anfang (vor ca. 2 Monaten) zuverlässig funktioniert. Mittlerweile kommen überhaupt keine push Nachrichten mehr an.
