I recently read that a top university (Cambridge?) decided to opt-out from #universityRankings (THE?).

But I can't find it any more. Can somebody give me a hint?

Institutions should publish the data that they provide to #UniversityRankings organisations.

Students/applicants/some funders use rankings despite oversimplification etc. Withdrawing, as US law schools and others from #USNWR, is likely a good response but leaves a vacuum.

Research-grade data might support a better system, #OpenScience style.
