Sen. Ben Sasse was confirmed Wednesday as the next president of the University of Florida by the State University System of Florida’s Board of Governors.

Sasse, a Republican from Nebraska, is expected to resign from the Senate in December Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts (R) would appoint a successor.

Sasse was unanimously approved by the university’s board of trustees last week.
